Flashlight — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
Flashlight turns on the rear light, a screen light, or a Morse SOS signal. The app has no account and no developer-operated backend. The light works offline. We do not sell personal data.
What stays on your device
Brightness, color, and similar preferences are stored in app-private preferences. Android backup and device transfer of those preferences are disabled. The app does not store photos, location, or contacts.
Camera
The rear light uses the system torch control. The app does not open the camera to take pictures or record video. Camera permission is requested only if a device refuses the torch without it. Denial still leaves the screen light usable.
Advertising
A home-screen banner can be requested from Google AdMob after Google’s User Messaging Platform consent check. The banner is removed during SOS and is not shown on the screen light. The Android advertising ID permission is not requested. Debug builds use Google’s sample ad units. Release ads stay off until production ad units are configured, and this page will be updated before that ships. Light settings are not sent to the ad network.
AdMob may still process IP address, ad interactions, and diagnostics under Google’s Privacy Policy when an ad request is allowed.
Permissions
- Camera — fallback only, so the torch can turn on. No photos.
- Foreground service and wake lock — keep a torch or SOS you started running, including while the screen is off.
- Notifications — optional notice with a Stop action after you start the light.
- Internet and network state — ads and consent. The light does not need them.
Children
Flashlight does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This page will be updated if these data practices change.
